Affordable Flying Safari to Kidepo Valley National Park (3 Days)
3 Days Flying Safari to Kidepo National Park is a Uganda flying safari that explores the Big Five safari animals in the Kidepo Valley National Park in the remote Karamoja. the 3 Days Flying Safari to Kidepo National Park is ideal for visitors with limited time but who want to experience the true African wilderness in Africa.
It starts from Entebbe airport and you fly into the Kidepo valley national park and back again to Entebbe or Kajjansi airfield in Kampala city. Kidepo valley national park is located in the Karamoja region north eastern Uganda along the border with Sudan and Kenya and it’s about 571 km from Kampala which would take 13 hours to arrive there by vehicle. Being a semi-desert area, the Narus River comprising of delta provide a home to wildlife such as elephants, lion, leopards, and over 400 species of birds including ostrich. There are mammals that are not found in other parts of Uganda including Aard wolf, African hunting dog, and ostrich.
3 Days Flying Safari to Kidepo Itinerary:
Day 1: Entebbe to Kidepo valley national park
You will board your charter plane from either Entebbe international airport or Kajjansi airstrip taking 1 hour. On arrival at the Kidepo airstrip, you will be transferred to your lodge. Meet the lodge staff for check-in and have time to relax a bit. Later you will go for a cultural walk outside the park. The Karamajong villages are unique in their traditional huts called Manyattas. Interact with indigenous tribes of the Karamajong and Ik people and learn their heritage. Return for dinner and overnight stay at Apoka safari lodge/ Ngamoru wilderness camp
Day 2: Full game drives
At about 06:30 am after tea you set out in a vehicle with a ranger to explore Kidepo National Park in search of wildlife such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kob, Jackson’s hartebeest as well as a variety of birds. Return back for breakfast and lunch. In the evening go for another game drive and to catch clear photos of the scenic mountains and savannah and a view of the sunset. The lodge staff can invite traditional dancers to share stories of their culture around the campfire. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge
Day 3: Fly back to Kampala or Entebbe
Your final activity is to enjoy sunrise and go birding along the river valley. There are lots of birds such as Abyssinian ground hornbill, Karamoja Apalis, and African fish eagles among others. Return and check out of the lodge. Then connect to the airstrip and fly back to Entebbe or Kajjansi.
