Uganda opens All National parks to tourists amid Covid-19 :  Following consultations with various stakeholders and after putting in place standard operating procedures for the containment of the possible spread of COVID 19 in the protected areas, the government of Uganda through the Uganda wildlife Authority officially reopened up all National parks including Primates parks of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park,Mgahinga National Park ,Kibale forest National and savannah parks of Murchison falls National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, Queen Elizabeth National park and Rwenzori National park among others for tourism.

Therefore the UWA offices in Kampala are open to the public and all tourism activities in the protected areas shall be undertaken in a manner that ensures all guidelines by the Ministry of Healthy and the directives of the president are adhered to. These guidelines include but are not limited to the following:

Standard operating procedures to follow when visiting Uganda Safari parks amid Covid-19

  • All visitors are subjected to mandatory temperature checks or screening by the non-contact infra-red thermometers at all the park entrances.
  • All visitors must wash their hands or sanitize their hands at all UWA offices as well as at all the open protected areas.
  • All saloon vehicles will be prohibited to conduct game drive activities in the park.
  • Big groups of travellers amounting to over 25 people entering the park and doing the same activities shall not be allowed.
  • Activities such as destination weddings in the park shall not be allowed.
  • Tourists visiting the national park as also encouraged carrying their own sanitizers and facing masks to ensure extra caution.
  • The government directive of carrying half capacity of passengers in order to ensure that he social distancing is observed. This directive also applies to the boats in the park as well as the concessionaire delivery vehicles.
