8 Days Tanzania Safari and Gorilla Trekking Itinerary:

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today you will be met by your driver at your hotel in Kigali City or at Kigali International Airport and you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable national park the home of gorillas in Uganda arriving in time for check in, lunch, dinner and later overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking and Pigmies Community experience

Today After breakfast you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing and later start your gorilla trek experience at around 8:30 am. Spending 1 hour with mountain gorillas will be a great experience for everyone. After spending a good time with the gorillas you will transfer back to the Lodge for a Hot lunch and to freshen up. In the evening you may choose to have a massage treat or to visit the local community of the pigmies and later dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Road Transfer to Kigali International Airport and Flight to Kilimanjaro Airport

After breakfast, you will embark on a transfer to Tarangire national park. This endless plains and baobab trees filled park has the largest concentration of 3000 elephants in Tanzania. On arrival at the park, you will start off your game viewing experience and expect to see giraffes, lions and buffaloes among others in addition to the elephants. Arrive and check in for lunch. Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti National Park ( Central )

After breakfast, you will transfer to Serengeti national park home to 3 million animals which is larger than any savannah protected area on earth. When you enter Serengeti before you check in your lodge, you will visit the UNESCO heritage site Oduvai gorge where the early humans thought to have occupied about 2 million years ago. You will learn much about the human evolution with the research of Dr. Louis leaky who discovered the human skull and other fossils at the site in 1960. Continue to your lodge inside Serengeti.

Day 6: Full day Serengeti Plains ( Central )

Serengeti offers best wildlife viewing opportunities. It is home to 3 million animals, including large prides of lions, herds of elephants, wildebeest, gazelles, buffalo, buffalo, zebras, and a variety of birds like ostrich. The game drive will start at sunrise explore the area to spot nearly all the large mammals mentioned above. You will return to the camp for lunch. In the afternoon animals will be more active and continue with your game drive. There’s an option to do a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti.

Day 7: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Game Drive the Crater

Today after breakfast, you will transfer from Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will explore Ngorongoro crater with a ranger later in the day. On arrival in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will descend into the crater to start your adventurous trail. This area is compared to Garden of Eden on earth and the big numbers of wildlife can be spotted in a day including all big five, the elephant, black rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetahs, and lots of hyenas, hippos, zebra and wildebeest being the most abundant. You will take a break for lunch. in the afternoon and then continue the game viewing in the south corner of the park where you visit Lake Magadi to see flamingos, hippos and other water birds. All visitors to Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda must have a valid passport with at least 4 consecutive blanks pages.  Any applicable visa and/or relevant documentation are the responsibility of the traveler.  For further information on Visa requirements visitors are advised to contact their nearest Uganda, Tanzania or Rwanda Embassy or Consulate.

CLOTHING:

Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.

BAGGAGE:

Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.

 WATER:

You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration. 

 HEALTH;

East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions.  Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards:

Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs.  Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray

Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Murchison Falls National park

You will begin your 8 days Uganda safari in Kampala, Uganda’s capital. Set off in the morning with your guide driving to Murchison Falls National Park. En-route there are two activities; the first one is guided rhino tracking on foot at ziwa rhino sanctuary, home to 25 white rhinos. After enjoying rhino tracking and lunch, you will head towards the park and visit top of Murchison the strongest waterfall. It is famous for its powerful plunges over 40 meter s cliff and breathtaking scenery of river Nile, the longest in the world. From there you drive to your lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game drive and River Nile boat cruise

Your time in the rainforest of kibale is an opportunity to spot other primates like red colobus monkey, black and white colous monkey, and grey cheeked mangabay.  Return to your lodge  for lunch and later transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park arriving in time for check in, dinner and overnight. After encountering the wildlife you will return to the lodge  for lunch and thereafter transfer to Mweya reaching  on time for a boat cruise on Kazinga channel. The favorite time includes spending 1 hour with a gorilla family and guides help you to know how they feed and live.  A walk in the forest in search of gorillas reveals wonders of their natural habitat including birds, plants, and primates. After gorilla trekking you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi arriving in time to begin your boat ride filled with beautiful views of the lake. 7 Day Uganda Safari itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale forest national park

You are picked up by your guide in Kampala and set off for kibale forest the primate capital of the world. You will go via mubende and make stop in Fort Portal town for lunch. After lunch, before you get to your lodge at kibale, you will go for top of the world’s hike and circle around beautiful crater lakes at 4 pm. enjoy sunsets and view of rift valley and later check in to rest from your long journey.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland

At 07am have breakfast and transfer from the lodge to Kanyanchu visitor center. Upon arrival, a 30 minutes briefing will quip with the rules for chimp tracking. You will be guided exploring kibale forest on foot as you shall see and photograph chimpanzees at close distance for 1 hour. You may see other primates such as red colobus monkey and black and white colobus monkey. After lunch, there will be an enchanting nature walk nature walk in Bigodi wetland, a long board walks in search of the birds, primates and plants.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park and boat cruise

Today you will picked up from your hotel in Kampala at 7:00Am and you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth national park. Discover the country side Uganda with your guide making stops en route at equator for photos and for lunch at Igongo cultural museum. Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today you will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala or from the Airport and you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable jungle the home of Mountain Gorillas. En-route you will have lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara. You will arrive in time at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking

Day 2 : Gorilla Trekking Uganda experience and village walk

You will be up early morning about 6-7AM for breakfast after which you walk to the park center and attend a 30 minutes briefing on rules and regulations of seeing gorillas. Tips for a Better Gorilla trekking experience

Book your Tour and Secure the Gorilla Trekking permits early

Uganda has the cheapest gorilla permits prices at USD 800 compared to Rwanda. This means the competition is quite high for the few gorilla permits in Uganda and it becomes hard to secure gorilla trekking permits a few days to your Uganda gorilla tour although you might get lucky sometimes hence a need to book your tour or gorilla trekking permit fully latest 3 months in advance.

Know your fitness levels before the Gorilla Trekking experience.

Finding the Gorillas is not predictable meaning you might walk for long hours before finding them hence a need to be moderately fit and prepared for the longer treks.

Get the help of Porters for the gorilla trek

If you are not moderately fit, we recommend you get the help of a porter so that you can track without having to carry the few essential items listed below in your day pack. The porters are from the local community and very used to the local conditions and can assist in pushing, pulling and supporting you during your trek to the gorillas. They usually come at an additional fee over and above your safari cost ranging from approximately USD15-20 per porter per day as a fee with additional tipping being optional.

What to pack for a Successful Gorilla Trekking Experience

  • Plenty of water – 1-2 liters per person (most lodges provide the water, but we also have it in the car)
  • High energy snacks in addition to your packed lunch provided by the lodge/camp
  • Spare film and batteries for videos and cameras
  • Gloves (gardening type are good)
  • Waterproof bag to protect photographic equipment
  • Hiking gaiters
  • A hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and band-aids might be useful
  • A lightweight waterproof jacket/poncho
  • Walking sticks are made available at the start of the trek for some of the steeper and more slippery tracks and may prove to be very handy.

Allowed Uganda Gorilla Trekking Age Limits

The age limit for gorilla trekking is 15 years and the authorities are very strict on this! With special written permission, however, a 14yr old might pass.

East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions.  Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards: Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs.  Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray

Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi forest national park

Day 2 : Gorilla Trekking and Transfer back to Kigali

Trackers search in the forest for signs of gorillas until they locate and tell you where to find them. You will spend 1 hour observing and taking photos of gorillas.
