This 7 Days Tanzania Wildebeest Migration Safari is a 1 Week Tanzania Safari Itinerary that is designed specifically to increase your chance to see the great Northern Serengeti Wildebeest Migration (Mara river crossing) and is recommended in the Months of late July, August, September and through to October. The 7 Days Tanzania Wildebeest Migration Safari will take you to both the Central Serengeti National Park (Seronera area) and the Kogatende area (Remote Northern Serengeti National Park) through the Lobo area (Area North of the Central Serengeti National Park) and it includes a visit to the Ngorongoro crater.

In July, the wildebeest migration moves north passing through the Lobo area (area just north of the central Serengeti National Park) and the Kagatende area (remote northern Serengeti National Park along the Mara River) en-route to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

The migration can arrive in the Northern Serengeti area anytime from July on wards and wildebeest can be seen in the area crossing the Mara River. In September the wild beast herds are spread out over the northern Serengeti National Park and Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

7 Days Tanzania Migration Safari Itinerary:

Day 1: Transfer from Arusha to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Today you will be picked up at your hotel in Arusha or from Kilimanjaro International Airport by your driver guide from Engabi Tours and Travel and you will be transferred to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. You arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and after lunch you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife for an afternoon safari tour.

Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Crater supports a vast variety of animals which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants not forgetting its dense population of predators which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard  which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the south western corner which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually been seen here.

Day 2: Transfer from Ngorongoro Crater to Central Serengeti

Today after breakfast, you will transfer to Central Serengeti National Park specifically in the Seronera area. The 151 Km drive will be covered in about 3hrs and you will arrive in time for Check in , Lunch and later an evening game drive. The Serengeti is home to the  “Big 5” animals (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard) and it’s ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa especially in the central part of the Serengeti known as the Seronera area which is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park as it features the Seronera River which is a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife.

Day 3 – Transfer from Central Serengeti to Northern  Serengeti

Today you will have a relaxed breakfast and later transfer to Northern Serengeti (Kogatende Area) together with your packed lunch. En-route you will have a game drive which will offer mild action from resident games and along the way you will enjoy your picnic lunch. In the Northern region you will have an opportunity to see variety of resident game such as zebras, topi, gazelle, buffaloes, leopards and lions. On arrival you will check in and head out for game viewing along the Mara River later dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Full day in North Serengeti National Park

Today will depart at 6:00 AM on an early morning game drive and later return to your lodge for breakfast, relaxation and later lunch. After lunch head out for an evening game drive where you may experience the most dramatic river crossing of the great migration as you watch the wildebeest surging through the torrential flow some drowning and a few falling prey to lurking crocodiles ( If it’s your lucky day you will be able to witness this natural wonder and watch nature take its course. Later return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Transfer from Northern  Serengeti to Central Serengeti

After breakfast you will transfer to Central Serengeti  together with your packed lunch.  The five hour drive will come with a game drive en-route and you will enjoy your picnic lunch a long the drive. In Seronera you will see lion prides that thrive in this region and other big five animals. End the day with a heavy dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

After a heavy Breakfast, you will transfer to Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for an afternoon game drive. Tanzania’s third largest National park is known for its majestic baobab trees that dot the landscape dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa and the park is also home to lions, leopards and cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, Oryx, eland, giraffe and zebra.
