15 Days African Safari and Primate Vacation Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and visit to the Bomas of Kenya
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you will meet and greet with your driver from Engabi Tours and Travel Ltd who will transfer you to your Hotel for check in. Depending on the arrival time you may head out to experience the Bomas of Kenya in the afternoon.
Situated 10km from Nairobi city center, and about 1 km past main entrance of the game-filled Nairobi National Park, the Bomas of Kenya lets you see the wonderful diversity of cultures that make up this fascinating country as different aspects of Kenyan culture are displayed including living styles, crafts, music and dancing. The word Bomas was derived from “Boma”-a Swahili word for enclosed homestead and there are now many different “Bomas”, each one representing one of Kenya’s major ethnic groups. Don’t miss out on the most exciting traditional dances and acrobatic shows before heading back to your hotel. Later you will transfer to the carnivore for dinner (optional) and then back to the hotel for overnight. Alternatively you may choose to visit the Sheldrick Elephant and Rhino orphanage Centre in Nairobi (This is Rehab and Rescue Centre for orphaned Elephants and Rhinos).

Day 2: Transfer from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
Today after breakfast, you will head southward to Amboseli National Park home to the big jumbos – Elephants. This is a relaxing drive through African savannah country with local homesteads punctuating the vast plain. The Savannah plains stretch to the horizon interrupted only by the iconic shape of Mount Kilimanjaro and the distinct flat-topped shape of acacia trees. Watch out for Masai herdsmen, draped in their colorful wraps as they tend to their flocks. You will arrive in Amboseli National Park in time for lunch.
Later depart for an afternoon game drive of the park where you expect to see large herds of elephants, Lions, Leopards, Buffaloes, Zebras and Giraffes with spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro

Day 3: Full Day game drive in Amboseli National park
This will be a full day of game viewing drives. You will have plenty of time to soak up the wildlife and the magnificent scenery but as well have time for relaxation. There will be an early morning game drive which will be followed by a heavy breakfast and then later a mid-morning game drive. You will return to the lodge for a comfortable lunch and thereafter set out for an afternoon game drive. In between these game viewing sessions relax at the lodge and enjoy the scenery. Later in the evening return to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 4: Transfer from Amboseli national Park to Tarangire Via Arusha Town
Today after breakfast you will transfer to Namanga boarder point where you will be picked up and transferred to Tarangire National Park Via Arusha Town arriving in time for check-in and Lunch at your Lodge. After lunch, you will do an evening game drive in the park which is famous for its diverse landscape with nine different vegetation zones. Tarangire is particularly known for the abundance of Ancient Baobab trees (the largest trees in the continent) which fill the landscape and dwarf the animals next to them. The river of the park is full of wildlife ranging from a large variety of birds to lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and, of course, elephants. Dinner and Over night at the lodge.

Day 5: Walking Safari in the Tarangire
This morning, put on your walking shoes for a safari on foot with an armed ranger and professional guide. Your qualified guide has a wealth of knowledge which he will share with you as he tracks animals and explains how to understand animal behaviour.
As he guides you through the park you may encounter zebra, waterbuck, impala, ostrich, elephant and a variety of birds. You will be walking through uneven terrain so comfortable, supportive walking shoes are a must and a reasonable level of walking fitness is required. Later return to your camp where you will be greeted with a refreshing drink and a well-deserved lunch. Following lunch you may go for another open game game drive or relax by the pool side or in the comfort of your rooms.

Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti National Park (Central)
After breakfast, you will transfer to Serengeti national park home to 3 million animals which is larger than any savannah protected area on earth. On your way to Serengeti, you will visit the UNESCO heritage site Oduvai gorge where the early humans thought to have occupied about 2 million years ago. You will learn much about the human evolution with the research of Dr. Louis leaky who discovered the human skull and other fossils at the site in 1960. Continue to your lodge inside Serengeti for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti
Today is without question one of the highlights of your safari. After a rich breakfast you will start your adventure a little earlier than usual. During a full day game drive, you will experience the Serengeti in its full glory today! The Serengeti is one of Africa’s most complex and intact ecosystems. Therefore, you can look forward to countless plant species like the characteristic umbrella acacias and millions of mammals like zebras, elephants and antelopes. The Serengeti is also home to the “Big 5” (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard). In the evening you will return to your lodge where you will have a delicious dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Game drive in the Crater
Today after breakfast, you will transfer from Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will explore Ngorongoro crater with a ranger later in the day. On arrival in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will descend into the crater to start your adventurous trail. This area is compared to Garden of Eden on earth and the big numbers of wildlife can be spotted in a day including all big five, the elephant, black rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetahs, and lots of hyenas, hippos, zebra and wildebeest being the most abundant. You will take a break for lunch. in the afternoon and then continue the game viewing in the south corner of the park where you visit Lake Magadi to see flamingos, hippos and other water birds. Return for dinner and overnight

Day 9: Depart Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Flight to Entebbe
Today after breakfast and depending on the schedule of your flight to Entebbe-Uganda, you will transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport to catch your flight to Entebbe arriving in time for check in at your lodge in Entebbe.

Day 10: Transfer to Kibale forest National Park
Today your driver/guide from Engabi Tours will transfer you from Entebbe to Kibale Forest National park arriving in time for lunch at your lodge. When you arrive at the park, continue and go for a visit to the beautiful crater lakes area, you will also get a chance to see the terraced tea estates. Have dinner and an Overnight stay.

Day 11: Chimpanzee trekking & Bigodi Swamp Walk
After your morning breakfast, your driver will lead you to Kanyanchu park headquarters for briefing from the senior park ranger. At 8:00 am you will join the rest of other trackers and transfer to the starting point which is 2 Km away from the park headquarters. Most often chimpanzee tracking goes for 3 to 4 hours. While in the forest you may interface with primates including the red tailed monkey, L’Hoest monkey, baboons, white and black Colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabey, red Colobus, blue monkeys and pottos. Other animals include forest elephants unique from the common type, giant forest hogs and a striking tree species. Later you will have lunch at your lodge before embarking on a guided nature walk to Bigodi swamp sanctuary, a good site for birders. Expect to see the Great Blue Turaco and Papyrus Gonolek which can easily be sighted among the other many bird species. There is also an array of butterfly species. In the evening return to your lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Day 12: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park
After breakfast you will be transferred to Bwindi forest National Park via Ishaka arriving in time for check in at Four Gorillas Lodge. Renowned as home to half of world’s mountains gorillas, Bwindi is famous gorilla tracking destination. Derived from the Rukiga word, “Bwindi” means a dark place; Bwindi rainforest has remained untouched since the last ice age 250, 000 million years ago. Dinner and overnight at your lodge

Day 13: Gorilla Trekking Experience
You will get up so early in the morning for breakfast and thereafter your driver will drive you to the Park head offices with your packed lunch. On reaching there by 7:30am you will be briefed about what to do and not to do while trekking after which you will be led by the ranger guides through the mist jungle. Trekking usually takes between to 5-8 hours or even a full day due to the location of gorillas. When you see them, it will be a great and fun time as you watch them and only 1 hour is permitted to watch them.
In the afternoon you will go for a full body Massage after the pleasurable but tiring gorilla tracking excursion into the rainforest jungle. Be prepared to feel rejuvenated after this fabulous treatment that will restore harmony of body, mind and spirit in natural surroundings.

Day 14: Transfer to Entebbe/Kampala
After breakfast you will transfer to Entebbe/Kampala with a hot lunch en-route. This journey will take approximately 6 hours and you will reach your lodge in Entebbe in time for check in, dinner and overnight. You may choose to take a domestic flight to Entebbe instead of the long driving Journey. Note that you may choose to end your trip from Kigali International Airport which is approximately 5 Hours from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 15: Flight Back Home
Depending on the schedule of your flight, you will have breakfast/ lunch with a team from Engabi Tours and travel and later transfer to the Airport for your outbound flight back home marking the end of your East Africa Primates and Wildlife Tour
